The New Beetle has been talked about for quite some time now. If I remember correctly, I remember hearing about the specs back in 1992. It looked like it does now, except it was supposed to be a deisel/electric hybrid. You were able to run on either system, and the deisel would cut out whenever you stopped at a light. When you hit the gas pedal to go, the deisel motor would start up again. Guess the concept didn't last for long, seeing as the car is basically a bug on a golf chassis! Oh well!

On a personal note, I have asked several people what they think of the New Beetle. Opinions are mixed between "cute" and "I would never". In my opinion, everyone needs to give the little car a break. Yes, it's not what the old bug was, and it never will be! If you will, think of the Ford Thunderbird. The new Thunderbird looks nothing like the old Thunderbird from the '60s. The New Beetle is just a high-tech representation of the old bug. It too will have its day!
